ANNOUNCING THE REPRESENTATION OF FLORIS VAN LOOK

KETELEER GALLERY is very proud to announce the representation of Belgian painter Floris Van Look (°1990. Wilrijk, BE).
Since graduating from the Academy of Fine Arts, Antwerp in 2018, Floris focuses on figurative painting and managed to develop a very unique visual language. He usually lets his mind converse with the life he encounters on the streets, but last year’s enforced seclusion allowed him to look at his surroundings differently and to bring them – and the literature he immerses himself in – to life in his, now typical, oil and putty paintings. Built up of very thick layers, bordering sculptures, his works offer the viewer a very tactile, non-virtual 3D experience evoking memories of old-fashioned, phased out ways of storytelling. The artist prefers to stick to old techniques and classical references but still succeeds wonderfully in inspiring our ‘hypermodern’ minds to fantasy.
Since ‘Very Important Friends’, Floris Van Look’s first solo exhibition at the gallery in 2021, the artist has been preparing a new series of works for his second solo exhibition, set to open in February, 2022 at KETELEER | BREMDONCK.
